Rikyu is located in the middle of Kyoto so you have easy access by walking to popular
sites such as, kiyomizu temple, yasaka shrine, kodaiji temple, gion. By following this guide you will be able to visit numerous famous sites around Rikyu.
Along the way between kiyomizu temple and nene no michi there are many souvenir stores, restaurants, and cafes which would be the perfect place to take a break and enjoy !! You maybe able to see Maiko in Hanami-Koji if your lucky!!

Sakyo & North recommended course

SAKYO, which is located in the northern part of KYOTO is a popular place to visit year around . Nanzenji is one of the most important zen temples in Japan. Tenjubyuan and shisendo both have beautiful gardens. Suirokaku is famous for its red brick arched bridge structure. For lunch it is recommended to go to ramen street ichihyogi and enjoy Japanese ramen. After lunch you can take the Eizan train to visit Kurama Temple or if you feel like relaxing in a Japanese nature hotspring Kurama onsen is the perfect place. Followed by visiting shimogama shrine which is one of the oldest shrines in Japan.

Fushimi & Uji recommended course

Fushimi Inari shrine is famous for it 1000+ red gates.
Byoudouin Hououdo is also the shrine pictured on the back of the 10 yen coin(Japanese currency). By following this guide you will be able to visit these two popular shrines with other shrines along the way. If you are a person that is interested in alcoholic beverages its recommended that you visit Sakagura in Fushimi and enjoy Japanese Sake at Sakagura bar. Nearby is Uji which is famous for its matcha (Green tea), you will find a large selection of many different foods made with matcha great for souvenirs to bring back home.

Arashiyama recommended course

Arashiyama is also a famous spot in Kyoto. It is recommended to take the boat ride, called " Hozugawa River Boat Ride". It takes 2 hours and you can enjoy Kyoto's views of nature. After the boat ride, you will be able to go to "Arashiyama Monkey Park" to see monkeys or "Bamboo Forest" which is the most popular place in Arashiyama.
